ASSIGNMENT HANDOUTS:
BACKGROUND:
The independent/partner reading assignment is designed for students to read a novel quickly with a partner, or by themselves. It provides students with more reading choices than the library of book sets we use for Literature Circles. Students can find a book from within the room, the school library or a book from home.
The intent of this assignment type is to have students reflect on story elements as they read, which includes: plot, setting, characters and character development, the conflict & type of conflict, the cause and effect of rising action, the climax of the story, and identify the falling action.
